Relay Privacy Policy

Relay is a Mac notch app for timers, media controls, volume and brightness indicators, and local AI usage and session tracking. This policy explains what Relay does and does not do with your data.

Relay collects no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising data. There is no account, sign-up, or email required to use it.

What stays on your Mac

Everything Relay reads to do its job is read and displayed locally, and never leaves your Mac:

• Audio — used only to animate the waveform. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
• Bluetooth state — used only to show your AirPods’ connection status in the notch.
• Media playback info (track, artist, artwork) — read from macOS’s Now Playing system, shown in the notch.
• Claude Code and Codex usage — read from files already on your Mac (~/.claude, ~/.codex). No API key, cloud account, or network request is involved in reading this data.

What leaves your Mac

Relay makes network requests in two cases, both only when you take an action — never in the background or on a timer:

• Licensing — your license key and device name are sent to Lemon Squeezy’s license servers (api.lemonsqueezy.com) over HTTPS when you activate a license, move it to another Mac (Deactivate), or open the Relay Pro settings tab, which re-checks your license is still valid. No API key travels with Relay itself — these are Lemon Squeezy’s public, unauthenticated license endpoints. If this check fails (offline, server down), Relay keeps your existing access rather than treating it as invalid.
• Update checks — clicking “Check for Updates…” in the General tab checks whether a newer version of Relay is available. This request carries no data about you beyond what any web request does (your IP address, logged by the server). If a newer version is found, it’s downloaded and verified with a cryptographic signature before installing.

Payments

Purchases are processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Relay’s developer never sees or stores your payment details. See Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy for how they handle checkout and billing data.

Children’s privacy

Relay is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
